St Michael’s has always had many children of all ages and employs a youth minister who coordinates our team of volunteers. Our regular children’s activities run throughout the week in term time and we also run holiday and festival activities.
Do you love singing? Are you in school year 4 or above? If so, come and join our award-winning children’s choir. We meet every Wednesday, sing in church once a month and perform at concerts and other events as well, also competing in local festivals. Please contact our youth minister Lauren for more information.
Over two days every November we put on Christmas Journey.
Year 2 classes from local schools have a hands-on multi-media presentation of the Christmas story, aimed at being thought-provoking and linking Christmas to Creation and Easter. There is story-telling; mini-dramas with church members in costume acting out scenes; a puppet play; a craft session and Q&A.
For some children, this is the only time they hear what lies submerged in the commercialism of Christmas. It is always a sell-out, the feedback from schools is very positive and the actors love doing it.
If you are a local school interested in your Year 2 classes taking part in this, please do contact the church office. And if you want to help facilitate, or your dream has always been to play Mary or Joseph, perform a puppet show or help with hospitality, we’d love to hear from you.
