Baptisms, Weddings & Funerals

As we journey through life there are certain special and significant times that we want to mark or celebrate with others, as well as times when we wish to commemorate loved ones.

At St Michael’s we recognise the importance of special services in helping people in the parish and the many others who attend our church to mark significant times.

Baptisms

We offer both thanksgiving and baptism (also called christening) for babies and children who live in our parish or who have some link with St Michael’s. Baptisms are done as part of the main morning service. Adults can also be baptized. Please email or ring the church office or the vicar and we will be glad to explain more.

Weddings

We have many weddings in our beautiful Georgian church with its attractive gardens. We will do all we can to make it possible for you to be married here, though the legal requirements mean you must either live in our parish or have a Qualifying Connection with St Michael’s. The rules about this are quite complicated, so please contact us for more information.

Funerals

These can take place either in church or in the local crematoria. They are Church of England services, but can be for anyone, whether a member of church or not. We have a modern audio-visual system which can be used for music and photographs. When available our hall can be hired for refreshments after the service.
