Welcome Hannah our Children’s Minister!

It is such an exciting time at St. Michael’s as we welcomed Hannah last week as our new Children’s Minister to join the Children & Youth Team!

We checked in with Hannah and asked her to let us all know a little about her

I’m Hannah and I’m delighted to be joining the youth team at St Michael’s. Myself and my fiancé Kevin live in Canada Water with our menagerie of pets, who I’m sure you’ll hear all about! Kevin and I met in our previous jobs, where I worked in the chaplaincy team and he in the hospitality team at Roehampton University. Prior to that, I worked in a lovely parish in East London as a pastoral assistant. I’m passionate about community and bringing the good news of Christ to children (and people of all ages!) in a compassionate, accessible and authentic way.

I have quite a lot of interests! I grew up in musical theatre and read Theatre at Goldsmiths, University of London. It remains one of my keenest hobbies. Kevin and I love animals, exploring, and generally being at one with nature – I’m a Shropshire lass by birth and the countryside never really leaves you. I find people and, specifically, brains really interesting and have a Masters in Psychology. I’m currently writing my second Masters thesis on the topic of how multidisciplinary healthcare teams can best support women with late-diagnosed ADHD with their wellbeing, participation and social/cognitive communication. Kevin loves history, technology and anything to do with aeroplanes. He currently works for a well known coffee company as well as dabbling in some freelance work in coding computer games, but has plans to train as a commercial pilot.

Kevin and I are due to get married in the Spring and will be with you until the Summer, when I will be (God willing!) qualifying as a paediatric Speech and Language Therapist and starting my PhD, again studying the topic of women and girls’ healthcare in relation to neurodiversity. We feel really blessed to be joining the church family at St Michael’s and are grateful to all who made the opportunity possible. Our prayers are with you all.”

Please make sure you give Hannah and Kevin a big welcome and pray for all their endeavours this year!
